94.9 CHRW is committed to raising the awareness of
community and student issues that affect London
or Western on local,
provincial, federal and
international levels.
As News, Sports & Spoken Word Director, Edward von Aderkas oversees the volunteer driven newsroom,
including
students in The Graduate
Program in Journalism at Western. Volunteers are always welcome at CHRW. You don't
have to be
a student at UWO, there's no
experience necessary, just an open mind
and a little
spare time.
News
94.9 CHRW News airs every weekday at 5pm. A team of volunteer newscasters research, write and present the daily newscast which is released as a podcast and posted on the CHRW News and Spoken Word blog.
Sports
Curently CHRW goes live to air with coverage of Mustangs football, hockey and basketball. You can listen back to previous sports broadcast online. There are also opportunities to contribute to CHRW's sports talk shows and interview athletes from around London and beyond. CHRW broadcasts every Mustangs football game - from the season opener until playoffs and this is why CHRW is known as the Official Voice of the Western Mustangs.
Spoken Word
CHRW talk shows explore issues affecting Londeners and cover topics not dealt with by the mainstream media. Every week day from 11am until noon there is a live talk hour with a rotating group of hosts covering everything from London's arts scene to gender equality or science fiction. Check out the descriptions of CHRW talk shows online and subscribe to some of the Spoken Word podcasts.
